This was a lovely park. We visited this park more than a year ago. So, for me to be able to write an article about it now must mean it was a memorable park.
The beaches were gorgeous. Beautiful white sand as far as the eye could see. And, even though we got there fairly early, I think it was around 8am or so, it surprised me how empty the place was. We walked along the beaches for quite some time, picking up a shell here and there, when we came upon some men fishing out in the water. It was a lucky coincidence that one of them made a great catch just as we were walking up with the camera. You can view the Photos in the St George Island Photo Gallery

Yesterday we packed up the car and packed our lunch and headed out to Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin for the day.
After arriving Austin and I grabbed our snorkels and our masks and headed past the rocky beach and into the water. It was really murky and you couldn’t see 4 feet in front of you even with a mask on. The park is definitely a great place to head out and go swimming for the day but i wouldn’t worry too much about snorkeling or anything like that because as i said, you couldn’t see much of anything. The water was nice though and pretty shallow for quite a ways out. Pam stayed on shore getting a bit of a tan but if you have been reading along, you know the bugs love her so much. within minutes she was stung by a yellow fly and a day later, her foot is still swollen. So if you’re like her and the stinging insects love you, bring some deet.

If you really want to take a trip back to the past then this is where you want to go. We stopped in and ate lunch at one of the 3 ( all i recall? ) pavilions that are located at the park.
The pavilions are kept clean and are well maintained from what we could see and it was a nice and peaceful as well. There’s also a playground for kids at the park so if your little ones are a bit restless you can always let them go run around and play for a little bit before the ride home. After that we headed up to the museum which was really nice and the park ranger (unfortunately we didn’t get her name though i wish we would have) was very informative and shared her enthusiasm about the park with us. It was nice to see someone who really cared about what they were doing and who would go out of their way to help visitors experience the park in a positive way.
